LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Members and Friends of the CIC-Toronto branch,

On behalf of the executive of the Toronto branch, I would like to welcome members and friends to the new CIC national office website.

The Toronto branch is a large and active community with a membership and programming as diverse as our fantastic city. Recent topics have included: Water: a public right or private commodity?; Cuba: Is Raul becoming a capitalist?; Democracy in Egypt: What is the best path forward for a democratic transition?; Is the Golden Age of Canada’s Foreign Policy Behind Us? Lessons from the Life of John W Holmes; Haiti, One Year Later: What Must Still be Done?; Aboriginal Sovereignty and the Arctic; Canada: Rogue State or Principled Outsider?

The Toronto branch volunteer executive is always looking for support in developing event ideas – as well as individuals interested in actually putting together an approved event! – to broaden the range of public policy discussion forums for our members and the interested Toronto community at large. if you would like to propose an idea for a CIC event, please feel free to e-mail your suggestions to toevents@onlinecic.org.

For more information on the Toronto branch, please check out our website: www.cictoronto.ca

All the best,

Jo-Ann Davis
President, CIC-Toronto Branch
